Ataxia is a rare degenerative neurological disease which effects balance, coordination, speech, mood, eyes and many other body functions. Ataxia is the result of the loss of function of the cerebellum.
Ataxia is very closely related to MS.
I was diagnosed in 2010 at the age of 30 with Spinocerebellar Ataxia. A large number of Ataxians are diagnosed in their 50's and 60's. Ataxia has greatly affected the way that I walk and stand. I need assistance when I walk, I I use a walker all day. The function of my hands has not been greatly affected yet, so I can make Hope Jewelry.
